Secondly, commonly known as the spiny-neck turtle or Spix’s sideneck turtle.

Is a species of turtle in the family Chelidae.

Thirdly,the species is endemic to Central America and northern South America.

Fourthly, a seldom seen snake necked turtle from the heavily vegetated swamps and lagoons of southern furthermore, Brazil. Eastern Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina. Commonly known as “Spixii”.

Moreover, Among turtle enthusiasts, very little is known about their living and breeding habits in nature.

Also, Famous for their numerous spiky tubercles on their neck, arms and legs.

Spixii prefer shallow water with some deeper areas, and land with lots of plant cover.

They make very good tank turtles as they are the smallest species of their genus.

with fully grown adults only reaching 5″ – 6″..

In nature, snails amphibians, and plants make up much of their diet.

ours take cut fish, beef heart and pellets.

Future breeding projects may some day make this rare species more commonly available.
